Customer Recommendation Using Customer Preference Estimation Model and Collaborative Filtering

Abstract
This study proposed a customer preference estimation model for production recommendation and a method to enhance the performance of product recommendation using the estimated customer preference information. That is, we suggested customer preference estimation model to estimate exactly customer’s product preference with his behavior. This model shows the relationship of customer’s behaviors with his preferences. The proposed estimation model is optimized by earning the relative weights of customer’s behavior variables to have an effect on his preference and enables to estimate exactly his preference.
To validate our proposed models, we collected virtual book store data and then made a comparative analysis of our proposed models and a benchmark model in terms of performance results of collaborative filtering for product recommendation. The benchmark model means a prior preference weighting model. The results of our empirical analysis showed that our proposed model performed better results than the benchmark model.

Abstract
In this paper, we discuss a data mining approach to detection of stock price manipulation in the Korean stock market. First of all, we review current methods which is being exercised in the Korean stock market as well as in the US stock market. And then we apply data mining techniques to the problem using data from the Korean stock market and discuss the results along with their implications.
Mathematical Models for Leasing Purchasing Empty Containers

Abstract
This study addresses how to plan purchasing and leasing of containers to satisfy the demand on containers. The problem can be further decomposed into the long term planning and the short-term scheduling. The long term plan specifies the composition of owned containers, long term leasing containers, and short-term containers. The short-term plan considers the seasonality of demand and determines the time of leasing and the amount of the short term and the long-term leasing containers. The length of the planning horizon is 10-20 years for the long term planning, while it is one year for the short-term planning. The time unit is one year for the long term planning, while it is one month for the short-term planning. This study discusses how to estimate the demand of containers and proposes deterministic models for scheduling purchasing and leasing of containers.

Abstract
The goal of qualitative analysis is to capture and formalize qualitative and intuitive knowledge about physical world. Qualitative reasoning has been successfully applied to electric and mechanical mechanism domains, in which most of reasoning has focused on simulation. This paper introduces a qualitative comparative analysis technique which predicts how a change in a given situation propagates. We developed a comparative analysis technique which extends previous research by including a reasoning technique about the relative rate of the change of a parameter. Previous research focuses only on the relative change of a parameter. Causal model for the given situation is generated from qualitative domain model. The propagation by the change in causal relations are traced by applying our comparative analysis. By providing explanation as well as prediction for the given change, our technique is expected to be used in design, diagnosis, intelligent tutoring system, environmental evaluation.

Abstract
Ubiquitous computing technologies become mature enough to be applied in acceptable ubiquitous services. In particular, in u shopping area, personalized recommender systems which automatically collect the nomadic user related context data and then provide them with products or shops in a flexible manner. However, legacy cooperative queries and context aware queries so far do not come up with dynamically changing situations and ambiguous query commands, respectively. Hence, The purpose of this paper is to propose a personalized context aware cooperative query that supports a multi level data abstraction hierarchy and conceptual distance metric among node instances, while considering the user’s context data. To show the feasibility of the methodology proposed in this paper, we have implemented a prototype system, CACO, in the area of site search in a large scale shopping mall.

Abstract
When a consumer intends to purchase products through Internet stores, many difficulties are met because of limitations of the current search engines and the current web structure, and lack of tools supporting decision makings. This paper raises an Internet shopping problem and proposes a framework of decision making process to settle it with an intelligent agent based on Semantic Web and Finite Domain Constraint. The agent uses finite domain constraint programming as modeling and solution methods for the decision problem under the Semantic Web environment.

Abstract
This study introduces a software system for supporting the engineering process of container terminals. The design procedure consists of data input, capacity requirements, alternative design, alternative evaluation, and results output. In order to design and evaluate alternatives rapidly, a set of libraries for container terminals was developed. The libraries consist of Wharf, Yard, TravellingArea, and Gate. The architecture of the set of libraries was designed by an object-oriented approach. Various types of container terminal models can be constructed by using a user friendly interface, the CAD based environment, and the combinations of the elements of the libraries. Alternative models can be evaluated by a simulation.

Abstract
An effective customer classification has been essential for the successful customer relationship management. The typical customer rating is carried out by the proportionally allocating the customers into classes in terms of their life time values. However, since this method does not accurately reflect the homogeneity within a class along with the heterogeneity between classes, there would be many problems incurred due to the misclassification. This paper suggests a new method of rating customer using Holistic profit technique, and validates the new method using the customer data provided by an insurance company. Holistic profit is one of the methods used for deciding the cutoff score in screening the loan application. By rating customers using the proposed techniques, insurance companies could effectively perform customer relationship management and diverse marketing activities.

Abstract
This paper describes the result of a case study for developing an expert system framework in order to support Korean Army tactical C4I system. Korean Army had developed an expert system, STAFS(Situation & Threat Assessment Fusion Expert System), for supporting field intelligence analysis activities which has been implemented through traditional manual process inside the division level combat briefing room. STAFS, however, has serious limitations for supporting combat commander’s decision making processes because of its limited capabilities, since the system had been developed for supporting only intelligence analysis function rather than for integrated combat decision making processes inside the combat briefing room. Thus, this paper proposed an integrated expert system framework for supporting the commander’s decision making by addressing various activities implemented in the briefing room.
