An Empirical Analysis of the Influence of Connectivity and Context-Awareness Functions of Ubiquitous Decision Support System (UDSS) on User's Decision Making Process

Abstract
This study is aimed at proposing a new approach to designing UDSS (Ubiquitous Decision Support System) which allows context-awareness and connectivity. In the previous studies, the need to design UDSS and analyze its performance empirically was raised. However, due to the complexity of empirical approaches, there is no study attempting to tackle this research issue so far. To fill this research void, this study proposes a Mobile Delivery System (MDS) as a form of UDSS, empirically analyzing how users perceive its context-awareness and connectivity functions. Especially, to add more rigor to the proposed approach to know how much it works well in the decision-making contexts, we considered three decision making phases (intelligence, design, choice) in the research model. With the valid questionnaires collected from 340 users of the MDS, we induced statistically proven results showing that both context-awareness and connectivity of the proposed UDSS (or MDS) influence the decision making steps positively and then contribute to improving the decision making quality.

Abstract
Recently, feasible services in ubiquitous computing environment are commonly based on context -aware computing. With the concept of context-awareness we can imagine more effective way to measure human being's daily stress and provide anti-stress services. Our study introduces logical and methodological approach to manage the stress through the development of stress index. From the practical perspectives, we also designed a business model for u-SMC, which is a profitable organization specialized in providing stress measurement services and personalized anti-stress services by utilizing the stress index model.

Abstract
Previous U-Commerce researches have dealt with the business support systems for traditional commerce space such as real world shopping malls. This paper investigates U-Commerce business models in service space. The McDonald's Touch-Order case is analyzed from business model perspective and the Media-Embedded Place business model is introduced as a U-Commerce business model for value creation in service space. The media-embedded place business model attaches auto-identification tags to tables or billboards, triggers commercial transaction through the tags, and shares the revenues and the incentives among the place owners and commerce/content providers. This paper analyzes its scenario and applications and illustrates the profitability analysis using so-called 'tag evaluation model'.
Development Trend Analysis of the Research on Recommendation System

Abstract
Recommendation systems are widely used to help deal with the problem of information overload. Over the past decades, a variety of recommendation systems have been developed as the amount of information in the world increases far more quickly than our ability to process it. This paper aims to analyze existing developed recommendation systems, provide systemic review, and present some basic issues on improvement action. Through this, we also suggest useful implications for better recommendation systems and give some ideas to recommendation system developers to improve their system. Especially, this study focuses on researches on recommendation system. In our research, we analyze the studies along with four different keys dimensions : their domain, objective, underlying model, and evaluation method of recommendation systems and portray the results as statistics or statistical graphics or table form.
Multi-dynamic Decision Support System for Multi Decision Problems for Highly Ill.structured Problem in Ubiquitous Computing

Abstract
Ubiquitous computing requires timely supply of contextual information in order to upgrade decision quality. In this sense, this study is aimed at proposing a multi-dynamic decision support system for highly ill-structured problems. Especially, it is very important for decision makers in the ubiquitous computing to coordinate conflicts among local goals and global goal harmoniously. The proposed Multi-Dynamic Decision Support System (MDDSS) is basically composed of both central structure and distributed structure, in which central structure supports multi objects decision making and distributed structure supports individual decision making. Its hybrid architecture consists of decision processor, multi-agent controller and intelligent knowledge management processor. Decision processor provides decision support using contexts which come from individual agents. Multi-agent controller coordinates tension among multi agents to resolve conflicts among them. Meanwhile, intelligent knowledge management processor manages knowledge to support decision making such as rules, knowledge, cases and so on. To prove the validity of the proposed MDDSS, we applied it to an u-fulfillment problem system in which many kinds of decision makers exist trying to satisfy their own objectives, and timely adjustment of action strategy is required. Therefore, the u-fulfillment problem is a highly ill-structured problem. We proved its effectiveness with the aid of multi-agent simulation comprising 60 customers and 10 vehicles under three experimental modes.

Abstract
Traditional market which is characterized by the folksy retailing market has lost its competitiveness rapidly due to the emergence of the Internet and the change of customer's purchasing behavior. The recession of the traditional market contracts the regional economy. We suggest a u-Market, a traditional market with ubiquitous computing capability, to revitalize traditional market. The suggested u-Market system applies ubiquitous computing technologies characterized by communications between customers and objects without limitations of time and location. The proposed u-Market system offers location information and specific contents of traditional market to customers. Furthermore, u-Market system recommends the store and product list that customers are likely to visit and purchase based on their contexts, so they can save their time and effort to search the products or contents.
A Model for Evaluating Technology Importance of Patents under Incomplete Citation

Abstract
Although domestic research funding organizations require patented technologies as an outcome of financial aids, they have much difficulty in evaluating qualitative value of the patented technology due to lack of systematic methods. Especially, because citation data is not essential to patent application in Korea, it is very difficult to evaluate a patent using the incomplete citation data. This study proposes a method for evaluating technology importance of a patent when there is no or insufficient citation data in patents. The technology importance of a patent can be evaluated objectively and quantitatively by the proposed method which consists of 5 steps such as selection of a target patent, collection of related patents, preparation of key word vector, clustering patents, and technological importance assessment. The method was applied to a patent on 'user identification method for payment using mobile terminal' in order to evaluate technology importance and demonstrate how the method works.
A Study on the Website Evaluation and Improvement of Korean Cyber University Websites

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to implement evaluation on domestic cyber University web site to analyze web usability and web accessibility in order to present how much cyber University provides various personalized services and qualitative contents to users on web site. And also with this result, I hope to contribute in qualitative development of web site and reliability of remote education. For this purpose, I developed checklist suitable to remote University by applying SM-ABCDE assessment method of Moonhyeongnam, the professor in Sookmyung Women's University, and implemented evaluation on web sites of 17 cyber University over the five aspects of attraction, business, contents, design, and engineering. As the result of this study, it was found that Busan Digital University was best in the respect of attraction, both Kyunghee Cyber University and Cyber University of foreign studies were best in the respect of business, Kyunghee University was best in the respect of contents, and Hanyang Cyber University was best in the respect of design. It was also evaluated in the comprehensive view and the order was found that Kyunghee Cyber University, Busan Cyber University, and Hanyang Cyber University. However in the respect of engineering, it came out that all the sites did not observe the regulation on web accessibility. If domestic Cyber Universities are to observe the regulation on web accessibility with the long term view, on the base of this study, web usability would be increasing. Then they can secure various classes of customers as well as ordinary people so that they will be able to take the real place of educational institution orienting the most advanced educational method in the society of knowledge and information in addition to advance in themselves.
Collaborative Tag-based Filtering for Recommender Systems

Abstract
Even in a single day, an enormous amount of content including digital videos, posts, photographs, and wikis are generated on the web. It's getting more difficult to recommend to a user what he/she prefers among these contents because of the difficulty of automatically grasping of content's meanings. CF (Collaborative Filtering) is one of useful methods to recommend proper content to a user under these situations because the filtering process is only based on historical information about whether or not a target user has preferred an item before. Collaborative Tagging is the process that allows many users to annotate content with descriptive tags. Recommendation using tags can partially improve, such as the limitations of CF, the sparsity and cold-start problem. In this research, a CF method with user-created tags is proposed. Collaborative tagging is employed to grasp and filter users' preferences for items. Empirical demonstrations using real dataset from del.icio.us show that our algorithm obtains improved performance, compared with existing works.
Development of the Knowledge-based Systems for Anti-money Laundering in the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit

Abstract
This case study shows constructing the knowledge-based system using a rule-based approach for detecting illegal transactions regarding money laundering in the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit (KoFIU). To better manage the explosive increment of low risk suspicious transactions reporting from financial institutions, the adoption of a knowledge-based system in the KoFIU is essential. Also since different types of information from various organizations are converged into the KoFIU, constructing a knowledge-based system for practical use and data management regarding money laundering is definitely required. The success of the financial information system largely depends on how well we can build the knowledge-base for the context. Therefore we designed and constructed the knowledge-based system for anti-money laundering by committing domain experts of each specific financial industry co-worked with a knowledge engineer. The outcome of the knowledge base implementation, measured by the empirical ratio of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) reported to law enforcements, shows that the knowledge-based system is filtering STRs in the primary analysis step efficiently, and so has made great contribution to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the analysis process. It can be said that establishing the foundation of the knowledge base under the entire framework of the knowledge-based system for consideration of knowledge creation and management is indeed valuable.
